A Day on Sand Island

True adventure awaits here with sea caves, pristine beaches and a hike to a light house

155 US dollars
Little Sand Bay

Tour Description

Level Required: Intermediate Sand Island, Waabaabikaa-minis, is the fifth largest of the 22 islands in the national lakeshore. This shoreline has it all, rock shelves, clay banks, intricate sea caves, and long sandy beaches. There is a large open water crossing to get to Swallow Point Sea Caves, a true highlight of the entire day. The paddle continues into Justice Bay to the beach where we will land for a much needed break to refresh and relax. After stretching our legs, applying bug repellant and getting into walking shoes you will hike to the historic lighthouse and have a chance for a guided tour from a park staff with a small additional fee. Upon returning to the kayaks we will prepare to launch and give those arms one last work out on the 4.2 mile paddle back through Little Sand Bay. This tour requires good physical fitness and includes a snack. Bring extra water, sunscreen, and a thirst for adventure. Sorry kids, this trip is for 14+
